NER class P2,P3, LNER class J26/27 loco and tender chassis.
Now supplied with a revised and improved Mk3 tender chassis giving the loco and tender all-wheel compensation at no extra cost.

Photo © Peter Stanger 2009. Allrights reserved.  This is our own J27 complete with an Easi-Rider EM loco and tender chassis.  This chassis was the test build chassis from the current production etch.  A significant feature of the loco and tender chassis' is the prototypical brake gear and rigging that can be removed as a complete assembly to assist with wheel fitting and removal before and after painting.  This allows the brakes to be mounted very close to the rims without actually touching the wheel rims.  The detailed lower firebox and ashpan serves two purposes.  it adds strength around the compensation beam pivot and along with the brake gear adds that extra touch of realism to the model.

Provision has been made to allow the use of Gibson plunger pickups.  These allow perfect current collection, are hidden by the wheel rims and don't detract from the work that went into assembling the highly detailed brake rigging.  If you opt for the American style of current collection then pickups aren't necessary at all.

This kit is now available in both EM and OO  gauges.  The EM version is suitable for use by P4 modellers. Both versions are priced at £55.00 including 1st class Postage.  To order ring 01670 362451 of use the "Contact us" page on this website.

Chassis specification

1      Comprhensive instructions comprising of 8, A4 pages of assembly instructions. One A4 page of diagrams and a parts list.  The fret has part numbers etched beside each part for easier identification.

2      The NER Class P2/P3, LNER/BR Class J27 is the latest addition to our Easi-Rider range of loco chassis for kit built loco's.  The chassis etch is in 0.4mm nickel silver for improved stength and rigidity. No need to buy an expensive chassis assembly jig, this chassis can be folded up around a 12" steel rule.
It fits the Alexander and Nu-Cast bodies body with only one small alteration to the drag box under the cab.  This has to be reduced in height by approx 1mm to accomodate the two wires holding the brake pull lever.  We have successfully fitted one of these chassis to the London Road Models etched kit with a little extra effort to allow for the difference in footplate thickness.
3      The all new chassis is our first chassis for an 0-6-0 tender loco and is compensated on all 6 loco driving wheels. We have achieved this by mounting the leading driving axle in hornblocks and the other two pairs work in a compensation unit incorporating the drive train and a motor mount for a Mashima motor.
4      We still use the tried and proven 54:1 2-stage gearbox and Mashima 1420 motor for (not supplied) EM gauge and either a 1220 or 1020 motor for OO versions.
5       The coupling rods are made up from 8 etched pieces and pivot on the crankpins.
6      The brake hangers are prototypical in appearance and the rigging is prototypical in operation. (See image of the underside of the chassis)
7     Provision has been made for the use of Gibson Plunger Pickups. Should you wish to use American style current collection then pickups aren't necessary at all.
8    Our test chassis will run 24" Radius curves in EM gauge and Set Track 2nd radius curves in OO gauge.
9    Cost for both versions of the loco and tender chassis kit is £55.00 inc P&P
10     Cost of loco chassis kit with Mashima 1420 motor £76.50 inc P&P.
11     Gibson Loco and tender wheel set costs £29.80 post free when ordered with a chassis kit. If ordered seperately please add £2.00 P&P.
12     Cheques should be made payable to "52F Models".

This above shot shows the prototypical brake gear arrangement with the correct proportion pull levers, shackles and brake pull rods.  The ashpan bottom was cut away to show the rear compensation unit incorporating the drive train.  The hornblock arrangement  for the leading driving axle can be clearly seen.  View showing the new brake gear and rigging from the underside.  Compensation beams are clearly visibly in this photo.  Brake shoes are prototypical in shape and the levers on the rigging have the correct 3-2-1, 2-1 and direct pull proportions.  This does enhance the model's level of detail below the footplate.

The chassis was designed around scale 3'-9" wheels " (Ø15.00mm) but Ø16.00mm wheels can be fitted if these are not available.  With Ø16mm wheels, the brake shoes are realisticly close to the rims without actually coming into contact with the wheel rims.
